Who Here LOVES!!! French Fries??? I DO!!! I crave them at least once a week. Many of you know that buying pre-cut french fries can become expensive…and on top of that you end up stuck with the seasoning or NON seasoning to save money.

To save money and satisfy your flavor cravings try Home Made!!! I absolutely LOVE home made french fries. I pay $4-$6 for a 10 lb bag of potatoes and it lasts me 2 weeks worth of fries for me and my 3 kiddos.

You can use this recipe/instructions for sweet potato fries as well!!! (picture above is of my sweet potato fries yum!

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes of course! lol (depending on size and servings your making you can use 2 for 1-2 people and 4 for 3-4 people)
  • Flour or my favorite Louisiana Fish Fry!
  • A medium or Large Cooking Pot
  • A deep fryer or another large cooking pot
  • Oil (any kind I use peanut oil personally for flavor and health)
  • Plastic shopping bag or large mixing bowl

Instructions:

  1. Fill a medium/big pot full of water and set to boil (use pot according to how many fries you will be making BIG pot is for 4-5 people, medium pot is meant for 2-3)
  2. Cut your fries to the size you want (takes a few tries to get the kinds you want so just keep cutting until your satisfied, I like min THINish…so they are crispy like in the picture above.)
  3. Start heating your oil now if you are using a cooking pot, if you have a deep fryer wait till step 4 (depending on your oil be it peanut, vegetable or canola its good to keep the heat on medium/high in cooking pot)
  4. Season your water or Not…then put potatoes into boiling water
  5. Let cook for about 5-10 minutes depending on the amount.
  6. While the potatoes are boiling get your breading mix ready, season your flour with anything you like and mix thoroughly in plastic shopping bag (double bagged) or a large mixing bowl
  7. Check on potatoes constantly by using a fork, if you can insert your fork easily through the potatoes they are done. (do not over boil! you will end up with mashed potatoes lol)
  8. Quickly pull potatoes from heat and then drain hot water, rinse with cold water and drain 3 times
  9. Toss potatoes gently in seasoned or non seasoned flour
  10. Deep Fry until potatoes are floating or until they are crispy to your liking
  11. Scoop fries out and let sit over newspaper or paper towels to let excess oil drain out.
  12. Now Serve them to your family or devour them all by yourself lol Yum!! Hope you enjoyed this recipe!!!
